General Introduction
中国船舶重工集团公司第七一一研究所（上海船用柴油机研究所，SMDERI）创建于1963 年，是中国唯一的船用柴油机研发机构。
Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute(SMDERI)，founded in 1963,is under the direct jurisdiction of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation(CSIC)and is the only research institute on marine diesel engine in China。
改革开放以来，七一一所逐渐从一个研发机构转变为具有柴油机研发、制造及动力系统集成能力的综合性实体，在柴油机、热气机、动力系统集成、舰船机舱自动化、热能工程与技术等专业领域形成了在国内外具有影响的核心技术与产品。
Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy,SMDERI has changed its role from a single research institute to an all-around entity engaged in engine R&D, manufacturing and power system solutions, and has developed some influential specialties both at home and abroad ,including diesel engine , stirling engine ,power system solutions, engine-room automation system ,thermal energy equipment, etc.
七一一所具有雄厚的研发实力和齐全的专业配置，构建了完善的技术创新体系。目前总资产27.8 亿元，净资产5.6 亿元，共有设备、仪器3500 多台（套），占地面积28.6 万平方米，建筑面积约15.6 万平方米。拥有647 名科研技术人员，设有硕士、博士学位授予点和博士后流动站，拥有博士生导师6 名、硕士生导师15 名。各类试验室30 多个，正在建设船舶动力系统国家工程实验室。建所以来，共获得国家级奖30 项，省部级奖253 项，其中热气机及其系统项目荣获国家科技进步一等奖。已形成和拥有一批专利群，带动了军民品产业化的发展。
SMDERI has strong R&D ability and complete specialties and has set up a mature technology innovation system. At present, its total assets and net assets are RMB 2.78 billion and RMB 560 million respectively. The institute possesses over 3500 facilities and instruments, occupies a total area of 286,000 square meters and a floor area of 156,000 square meters, and employs 647 scientific research and technical personnel. It has been authorized to set up Master Program, Doctor Program and Post-doctral Scientific Research Mobile Station, and to provide 6 supervisors for doctors and 15 supervisors for masters. SMDERI possesses over 30 laboratories of various kinds, including one national marine power system engineering laboratory under construction. Since the institute was founded, it has won 30 national awards and 253 provincial-level awards，including the first-class prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress due to the achievements on Stirling Engine and its system. SMDERI has formed a passel of patents which drive its industrialization development of military and civil products.
主要产品有船用柴油机及国产化配套件、机舱自动化产品、液力和机械传动系列产品、高架和地面火炬、螺杆压缩机、分布式供能和垃圾填埋气发电系统。服务于机械、石化、能源、环保、交通运输等20 多个行业和领域，地域范围包括世界30 多个国家和地区。
The main products developed and produced by SMDERI include diesel engines and auxiliary components, engine-room automation system, series of hydraulic and mechanical drives, elevated and ground flare systems, screw compressors and distributed power supply system. These products have been widely used in more than 20 fields, such as machinery, petrochemical, energy, environmental protection, transportation , etc, with a market covering more than 30 countries and regions in the world.
七一一所曾荣获“全国五一劳动奖状”，两次荣获“全国先进基层党组织”称号、十三次荣获“上海市文明单位”称号。
SMDERI has been awarded many honorable titles, such as “May 1st Labor Medal” for once, “National Model Grass-roots Party Organization”for two times and “Shanghai Model Unit” for thirteen times.
